We approach chiropractic care from a neuro/biomechanical perspective, one that’s supported by the latest scientific research. Chiropractic adjustments are used to treat musculoskeletal conditions, relieve pain and restore proper body function.
Dr. Mike can also improve nervous system function by adjusting both the spinal column and extremities. We often combine chiropractic treatments with Active Release Therapy (ART) to provide better results for our patients. Chiropractic procedures can also be combined with Exercise Rehabilitation to strengthen weak muscles, improve flexibility and assist with the prevention of future injuries.

Active Release Therapy (ART)
Active Release Therapy (ART), also known as Active Release Technique, is a specialized non-invasive manual therapy that treats soft tissue injuries and the resulting pain a patient is experiencing. ART works by breaking down scar tissue and adhesions in order to improve body function and reduce pain. It first became popular in the 1980’s as a treatment for high performance athletes.
ART has proven to be a highly effective technique for a variety of ailments, some of which don’t respond to other treatments. This would include muscle strains, chronic lower back pain, sciatica, neck stiffness, carpal tunnel syndrome, shoulder pain (and frozen shoulder), tendonitis, tennis elbow and shin splints to name but a few.
Acupuncture is a key component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), one of the oldest healing systems known in the world. Acupuncture uses thin needles to reduce pain and discomfort while improving circulation, thereby allowing the body to cure itself.
Acupuncture can be used to as a treatment for a given ailment or can be combined with other treatments to provide a patient with a more complete solution for their pain. For example, Dr. Mike can combine acupuncture with Electrical Stimulation Therapy (i.e. TENS machines) and other modalities like Active Release Therapy to enhance the effectiveness of your treatment.
Another form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), cupping was made famous by Olympic Gold medalist Michael Phelps. This form of deep tissue massage uses special cups that create suction, thereby helping to relieve pain and inflammation while also improving blood flow, relaxation and general well-being.
The stretching and contraction of the skin is what makes this form of therapy effective, as increased blood flow helps to boost the body’s recovery process from muscular aches and pains, including the small muscle tears that occur with weight training. Cupping can also help to better manage lower back pain, plantar fasciitis and fibromyalgia.
Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) has proven beneficial with patients dealing with pain and inflammation. It can also help to repair damaged tissues in the body by stimulating cell function. For years, LLLT has been known to help in the treatment of both orthopaedic and chronic conditions.
These would include sports injuries, arthritis, neck and back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, post-surgical rehabilitation and other musculoskeletal conditions. The best thing about Laser Therapy is that it’s very gentle and non-invasive, so it can be used on most patients regardless of their age or health.
Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive procedure that involves the use of a shockwave device. It is applied directly to the skin via a gel medium, creating a series of low energy acoustic waves that can treat soft tissue and joint injuries. it is a very effective treatment for many musculoskeletal conditions, particularly those involving connective tissues such as ligaments and tendons.
This relatively new rehabilitative treatment is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while also providing stability and support to the body’s muscles and joints. It also won’t restrict your range of motion due to its highly elastic, skin-like properties. That’s why you’ll often see competitive athletes using Kinesio tape in competition.
After a proper clinic evaluation, Kinesio tape can be applied to effectively reduce pain and inflammation. Depending on the treatment area, it can be applied to the skin for up to 5 days in large part because its patented design channels air, sweat and water to and from the skin, enhancing breathability.(This service is complimentary to our patients when you book any other Chiropractic Service.)
